Chino Hills rejects Hindu sect temple proposal as too large (AP via Mercury News)
The city council for Chino Hills in southern California rejected by a 4-1 vote a proposed zoning change to allow the Bochasanwasi Shree Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) group to build a temple. The opponents claimed that the temple complex was too large and would generate excessive traffic. There were other less charitable comments too.
Officials with BAPS plan to meet with city staff to discuss possible modifications to their project.

There is extreme anger that a so called place of "Love<Peace< and Harmony " has created such a anger in our city. The temple, it's grounds do not fit into Chino Hills residents idea of a attraction. The protest will only start with the start of the project, and BAPS will be wasting their money and energy to proceed with the project. Why does BAPS want to cause so much disharmony in our city ? Flyers are going all over and a good solid 80 to 85 % of the people talked to who actually Live in the city are against it strongly. The last chino Hills meeting at the high school there were hundreds of non-residents of the city there speaking for the temple. Who the heck does BAPS think they are coming into a city, bringing hundreds of non-residents to speak in our city.
Go away BAPS....I never thought that their faith, and the people involved could be so rude, inconsiderate, and hypocritical. " Peace, Love, and Harmony" BAPS is more like "Division, Disrespect, and Controversy"
