Boosting medical tourism

India's medical tourism injection (Asia Times Online)

Pretty good article on the increasing hype about attracting medical tourists to India. The Confederation of Indian Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) are both involved in boosting awareness about this potentially lucrative segment.

There are interesting initiatives - the govt of Maharashtra has formed a council to promote medical tourism and advertises hospitals next to hill stations while Indian Airlines has teamed up with leading city hospitals in Kolkata to give air passengers a 30% discount on diagnostic and therapeutic services in city hospitals.

i m an architecture student,studying in hyderabad.currently m doin my thesis.on the topic :centre for medical tourism.

as a part of the study,i have to do a case study of such project.
it would be of great help,if u would suggest me of any such medical tourist centre that has been built in india.i would be obliged if u would send the information as soon as possible,as i need to plan my vist accordingly.

India can be promoted for medical tourism with inbuilt safety mechanism so that the subsidies given for it generate enough revenues to be fed into the very inadequate public health care of country and not to subsidise rich foreign tourists at the cost of public health and profits going only to rich corporate hospitals.
